Drew Barrymore Reveals Her True Feelings About Aging
Refusing to join the list of Hollywood stars getting plastic surgery done, Drew Barrymore says she’s ready to age gracefully without any beauty enhancements.
During a recent interview with People, the ET star stated that she hasn’t done anything plastic surgery-wise. “I’m going to maintain that as long as possible,” she declared. “I have zero judgment for anyone doing anything. But I don’t see myself resorting to it.”
Drew Barrymore admitted the reason she’s not interested in plastic surgery is mostly due to her fear of becoming obsessed with it. “I have a highly addictive personality,” she explained. “So I worry I’d continue to chase it, get this and that done. That scares me, just because of my own approach to things. So, I’m waiting on making any alterations.”
Barrymore revealed that she does dye her hair to the point where she no longer knows her real color. She went on to jokingly say she’s looking forward to seeing how she looks with a leather bag in the future.
While continuing to discuss aging and plastic surgery, Drew Barrymore stated getting older isn’t something she’s stressing out over.
“It means you’re alive, you’re living,” Barrymore said. “And that’s a really good thing. Embracing aging is such positive, healthy messaging.”
Drew Barrymore pointed out that good health is the most important goal. “Health really comes into focus more than anything when there’s peril,” she continued. “If you have your health, then you can focus on so many other things – including beauty. But it really is the most important thing of all.”
Drew Barrymore Has ‘Never Subscribed’ to Pressure of Looking Young
Prevention reports during Jamie Lee Curtis’ visit on The Drew Barrymore Show, she and Barrymore spoke openly about the pressure of looking young these days.
“I’ve never messed with my face,” Barrymore explained. Curtis then said, “I can tell!”
Drew Barrymore also noted that she doesn’t want to “fight” nature when it comes to aging. “I’m raising two daughters, and we were raised in an industry where it was desired to drink off the fountain of youth, and I just never subscribed to it. So I appreciate everything you said. And I think men just need to let women know aging is safe and awesome.”
Barrymore went on to add that she feels like a rebel as she avoids plastic surgery pressure. I saw all of those women torturing themselves to look a certain way and I thought, ‘You miserable people,’” she added. “I just never wanted to never be afraid of what life would do to me.”
