Her father spent 17 years working in a local newspaper’s sports department.She was a member of the sorority “Sigma Kappa”, a sorority founded in 1874 at Colby College, Waterville, Maine.Before taking a spot in the broadcasting industry as a professional news anchor and reporter, she started out as an intern for WUSA in Washington, D.C., then landed a job as a production assistant for CNN.Her first on-air appearance and role as a news reporter took place while she was working with WAWS, a fox-affiliated TV station licensed to Jacksonville, Florida.On May 22, 2008, she made a guest appearance on the edition of The Tony Kornheiser Show, occupying the “chick chair”. At the time, she revealed a humorous anecdote of being arrested for expired license plates by the DC Police on her way to a News 4 interview, which appeared to be a public service warning for anyone who would be visiting Washington, D.C.On July 17, 2008, she was honored at the Reading Phillies at Baysox doubleheader during which she made her first pitch.
