Broadcast veteran Neil Mitchell has sold his family home of more than 40 years.
The longstanding 3AW Mornings radio host and wife Selina earned $2.76 million for their longtime digs in Malvern East’s leafy Clarence St in April, with the sale just settling.
It’s a far cry from the $65,000 paid in 1978, according to CoreLogic.
The couple have downsized but “upgraded” locally to “a townhouse style of living” after becoming empty nesters.

“It was an old traditional east Melbourne residence that had been lived in by Neil for over 40 years and it was ready to be redone and brought up to the 2020 era,” Kay & Burton agent Gerald Delany told Property Insiders.
“It’s a great family position in Malvern East, one of the prized positions of Melbourne.
“It certainly was in need of some renovation and that’s what the buyers’ intention is, to the best of my knowledge.”
Mr Delany said the property was “probably bought for not a great deal more than land value” and had “the bones of a good house”.
Realestate.com.au listing photos show only the exterior of the “exclusive Gascoigne Estate” 1920s two-storey house with a separate studio, which represented “a AAA opportunity to acquire a blue ribbon 775sq m (approximately) land parcel with exciting potential”.
Golden Elm and Liquid Amber trees are highlights of the beautiful mature gardens that wrap around the home with “northern entertaining terraces and a central courtyard”.
Proximity to Korowa, Sacre Coeur and Malvern Primary schools was also noted.
