Back in the 90’s, MTV was more than just bad reality shows and a music channel missing music. It had a lot of fun, quality programming, including the fashion trends round-up show, House of Style. The show focused on America’s growing fascination with the “supermodels,” the modeling industry, and a variety of style-related topics.

House of Style was hosted by a rotating crew of gregarious, likable models, including Cindy Crawford, Rebecca Romijn, Molly Sims, Daisy Fuentes, Amber Valleta, and Shalom Harlow. After an eleven year run, the show ended. There was a 2012 web revival starring Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss that had some major industry cred (i.e. behind the scenes looks at Paris Fashion Week and guests including Kanye West). But the show was online only and lasted just one short season.

Fans of the show can rejoice, because House of Style is back once again beginning on August 4. This time, hip hop artist and new fashion icon Iggy Azalea has signed on as host. Azalea has been embraced by the fashion community starting very early on in her career, as she is super fashionable and uniquely gorgeous, with a quirky, but high-fashion-filled style.

Here is what one can imagine a letter would have looked like from the MTV producers to the “Fancy” and “Work” rapper asking her to be their new host…

Dear Iggy,

We hope this letter finds you well. You know we here at MTV love you. When we do ever play music videos (i.e. 4 am in the morning), your videos inspire us with your amazing fashion sense and sick rapping abilities. Your idea to recreate Clueless for the “Fancy” video was just genius, and the degree to which you duplicated the costumes from the movie was unbelievable.

We believe that females all over the world are inspired by your fashion sense, both on the red carpet and in your videos. You’re whimsy approach to dressing makes it look like you not only care about fashion but really enjoy it. Because of your style, your talent, and your likability, we feel that you would be the perfect host for our new reboot of  House of Style.

The season would culminate at the MTV Video Awards, in which we have nominated you for seven categories. After that, you can decide if you wish to host another season.
